This was written after story upon story were piling up of womyn in my life being assaulted or fucked with at or after shows, in spaces that were deemed worthy of having shows at, and by male assigned people who had some kind of “punk-power” in their scene (being in bands, running labels, etc).
It was written out of frustration at a lack of accountability of those who were assaulting, denying, or not caring. Frustration at silence and at not knowing what to do about it. It was written in solidarity with my best friend who was a victim in this process and with anyone who has had to go through this experience.
lyrics
Panic hits when he enters the room
You haven’t learned how to conquer this terror
You wanna leave, but you’ve got no better place to go
This is where silence let’s you hide from it
But you know the truth
They’ve got no business here
He’s got no business here
You wanna get up and run
But hold my hand tight
You wanna get up and
But stand up and fight
I wish they could see
The wolf in your sheep
